Our Ride Towards the Event Horizon… Better Known as the Expansion of the Universe
An interesting idea that my wife had is that the universe isn’t expanding, yet that our perception of the universe around us is being affected by the time warp of black holes.
Astronomers believe that supermassive black holes lie at the center of virtually all large galaxies, even our own Milky Way. (S) This warp of space and time makes it appear that not only are we expanding, but the expansion is speeding up. If we could be past the event horizon in a black hole, we could look out and see things the same as how they currently look outside of the black hole. But if you were looking into a black hole you would notice things are being stretched and torn apart very quickly. The closer you get to a black hole, the more influence gravity has. This influence will give you a much faster relative speed to things farther away from the black hole. It is this stretch on time and space that my wife and I believe is making other galaxies appear to be moving away from us at an accelerating speed.
